A bichromatic microscope configured and optimized for the viewing and interpretation of analytical ferrograms. The instrument provides both reflected (red) and transmitted (green) illumination so ferrograms may be illuminated from above and below the stage; metal particles appear bright red while nonmetallic particles appear green. The microscope is supplied as part of an analytical ferrography laboratory system for separation and microscopic examination of wear and contaminant particles in used lubricants, hydraulic fluids, coolants and fuels.
