The Corning Mediatech 50 L MEM (Minimum Essential Medium) is a powdered basal medium used for the culture of mammalian cells. It is an animal-origin-free* and serum-free formulation that does not contain L-glutamine, phenol red, sodium bicarbonate, or sodium pyruvate. This powder is hygroscopic and should be protected from moisture. It is a modification of the original Eagle's Minimum Essential Medium (MEM) and contains Earle's salts, vitamins, MEM amino acids, and MEM non-essential amino acids.
